The Professional Photographers of America, the world’s oldest and largest professional photography trade organization, held its annual convention outside of DC just this past week. I’m pumped about being the state representative during this impressive convention called ImagingUSA. The professional photographer convention hosted loads of exceptional presentations on their international stage, such as how to push your photography to the next level, use equipment more effectively, serve clients in better ways, and much more. What I liked the most besides serving on the national council was hanging with some of the biggest names in the industry. This event motivates me to bring it on even more for the rest of 2022.

Other Tennessee professional photographers voted me as their state representative to promote their voices in this professional photographer organization. My community elected me for the third three-year term. We had an orientation meeting as it is the beginning of the convention. We also had the general council meeting later in the week. I’m blown away to be in a room with the best of the best in the industry. I was thrilled that this orientation was at the beginning of the convention so I could schedule times to do coffee or lunch with those I hadn’t talked to since the last convention.

I love the quality of the presenters at the photographer convention as well as the content from the national stage. Also, I loved the inspirational presentations, as it is always good to keep the fire going. I also went to some lighting and business presentations. These presentations benefit me less as I gain more experience in the field. However, I was able to pick up a tip or two that I’m excited to play with and implement. They had a humongous trade show with additional presentations on the newest and hottest (and expensive, might I add) equipment.

My favorite part at the professional photographer convention was hanging with some of the best photographers in the industry. This is the only time of the year I get to see these top photographers throughout the country. I’ve been nurturing these relationships for years. These relationships are also increasing as I am doing more and more photography presentations throughout the nation. Knowing photographers with established and profitable businesses like mine is invaluable. This way,  I don’t have to learn as much through trial and error as when I started. I feel that the quality of my offerings and services is increasing more than ever by attending the photography convention every year.
