Taste With Your Eyes — A Hands-On Food Photography Intensive in Styling, Workflow, and Visual Storytelling
This full-day, hands-on intensive focuses on advanced food photography with an emphasis on styling, production workflow, visual storytelling, and the business realities of professional practice. Participants actively shoot throughout the day while building and refining multiple sets, working collaboratively in small teams to mirror real-world production environments.
Styling begins with what the chef or client presents — a three-dimensional experience of flavor, texture, and intention — and is translated into a two-dimensional visual language that remains dimensional, appetizing, and honest. Participants learn to interpret that intent and control structure, shine, moisture, freshness, scale, and composition so images communicate clearly and consistently on camera. Lighting strategy and camera choices are then integrated to support the visual story while maintaining efficient, repeatable workflow.
The workshop also addresses client communication, expectation management, shot planning, time management, and effective on-set collaboration, reinforcing how clear communication and aligned expectations directly impact creative success.
This is not a passive lecture. Expect to work, experiment, problem-solve, collaborate, and refine your instincts throughout the day with direct guidance and real-time feedback.
